A Note from Earl's great-grandson:
My great-grandfather, Earl Hutchinson Sholes, lived with me as a child in Vallley Stream, Long Island, NY. My mother was his grand-daughter (Marilyn Frances Mullen) through her mother Frances Hutchinson Sholes Mullen. We called him "Papa Urshey" and he used to do wonderful things like build ships in bottles and write the Lord's Prayer on the back of a postage stamp. I have fond memories of him and the imaginary playmate he created called "Grandfather Christopher" who must have been his grandfather, Sen. Christopher Latham Sholes. Amazing how someone born in 1820 lives day-to-day in 2016, I think of Papa Urshey and Grandfather Christopher every day. Regards, Dan Bilik
Earl married Josephine Dawson on 13 May 1909 in Manhattan, New York, New York. Josephine was born in Sep 1889 in Kings County, New York; died on 18 Dec 1954 in New York; was buried on 22 Dec 1954 in Calvary Cemetery (1st), Woodside, Queens, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
